Tamil rent receipt generator

Will an employer accept a rent receipt in Tamil?

Income tax rules ask for proof of rent paid, not for a particular language. In practice, payroll teams in Tamil Nadu see Tamil receipts often, but a team in another city may ask for English. A receipt with both languages, which is what the generator prints, avoids that question. The rules on the PAN and the revenue stamp are the same in every language; they are explained on the main rent receipt format page.

Receipt for rent, not for the advance

In Tamil Nadu the security deposit is called the அட்வான்ஸ் (advance), and it is often several months' rent. Do not put it on a monthly rent receipt. Give a separate signed note for the advance, saying the amount, the date and that it is refundable as per the agreement. A tenant on ஒத்தி (othi, a lump-sum lease) pays no monthly rent, so monthly receipts do not apply to them.

• வாடகை (vaadagai): rent, the only amount that goes on this receipt.
• EB bill: if the tenant pays electricity through you, give a separate note or list it on its own line. HRA covers rent only.
• ரொக்கம் (rokkam): cash. Cash receipts above ₹5,000 need the ₹1 revenue stamp.
