Rent reminder message in Tamil (வாடகை நினைவூட்டல்)

A Tamil rent reminder should be short and respectful: start with வணக்கம், add அவர்களே after the tenant's name, then give the month, the rent in rupees, the due date and your UPI ID. Below are four Tamil messages to copy: a polite reminder, a firm one, a final one and a thank-you.
How do you address a tenant in Tamil?
Written Tamil is more formal than spoken Tamil. In a message, use the respectful நீங்கள் (neengal) form throughout and never the casual நீ. Put அவர்களே (avargale) after the name, as in "Ravi அவர்களே". Many tenants in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai simply call the landlord "owner" or "Sir", even when the rest of the message is in Tamil, so you do not need a grand title for yourself. Sign with your name.

Write the month the English way in Tamil letters, such as அக்டோபர் (October). Tamil calendar months like ஐப்பசி start in the middle of an English month, so "ஐப்பசி rent" could mean two different due dates.
Polite Tamil reminder before the due date
Send this three days before rent is due. Replace each word in square brackets, keep the ₹ sign and the numbers as they are, and paste your UPI ID in English letters so the tenant can copy it straight into Google Pay or PhonePe.

Firm Tamil reminder when rent is a week late
After seven days, stay polite but be exact. Mention the dates of your earlier reminders and the due date in your agreement. Ask for either the money or a written date, because a promise in the chat is something you can point back to.

Final Tamil reminder before you take legal advice
Send this only after a month of missed rent and several reminders. It says what you will do next, through proper channels, and still offers a phone call. Tamil thank-you message after rent arrives
Confirm the payment the same day. A two-line thank-you tells the tenant the money reached you and gives both of you a dated record. If they need a receipt for HRA, use the Tamil rent receipt format.

Tips for Tamil rent messages
- If the EB bill or maintenance is paid separately, add a line such as "EB கட்டணம் ₹[தொகை]" so the tenant sees each amount.
- Tenants on othi pay no monthly rent, so they need no reminder. Message them only about the end date of the lease and the return of the lump sum.
- If your tenant writes back in Tanglish (Tamil in English letters), it is fine to reply the same way. The templates here stay in Tamil script so they read clearly on any phone.
- Ask about the advance or any deduction from it in a separate message, never inside a rent reminder.

Frequently asked questions
Should I write the UPI ID in Tamil letters?
No. Always paste the UPI ID in English letters exactly as your bank app shows it. A UPI ID typed in Tamil script will not work when the tenant copies it.
What is the Tamil word for security deposit?
Most landlords and tenants in Tamil Nadu say அட்வான்ஸ் (advance). In a formal letter you may see பாதுகாப்பு வைப்புத் தொகை, but advance is what people understand.
Is a Tamil WhatsApp reminder valid as a record?
Yes, a reminder in any language is a dated written record that you asked for rent. It is not a legal notice, which a lawyer drafts separately. Keep the chat.
Should I remind a tenant in Tamil or in English?
Use the language the tenant replies in. Many tenants in Chennai read both, and a Tamil message often feels more personal, but an English one is fine for a tenant from another state.
