Two kinds of PG in Pune: near colleges and near IT parks
Pune's PGs grew around two kinds of occupant. Students fill PGs near the colleges in Shivaji Nagar, Erandwane and Kothrud. Working professionals fill PGs near the IT parks of Hinjewadi, Kharadi and Viman Nagar, and in Baner and Wadgaon Sheri next to them. Housing.com's guide to Pune PG areas groups them the same way.
Whichever kind you run, the rent work is the same: a different joining date for every bed, some occupants paying by UPI and some handing cash to the caretaker, and parents or employers sometimes asking for a receipt. That is the part Domvio takes over.
PG rent in Pune by area
The newest area-by-area PG survey with a date on it that we could find is Housing.com's, from November 2021:

Read these as a floor, not today's price. Flat rents have kept rising since: in ANAROCK's report for early 2025, quoted 2BHK rents in its Pune markets were still going up 1% to 2% a quarter. If you lease a flat or building to run as a PG, this is roughly what the lease costs:

The 2026 Pune Police drive on tenant and PG details
In August 2026 Pune Police acted against 113 landlords and PG operators for not giving the police their tenants' details, as Punekar News reported. The cases were registered under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, for breaking orders issued under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Areas named included Kothrud, Deccan, Ambegaon, Narhe, Chatushrungi, Khadki, Lonikand and Loni Kalbhor.
- What police found: owners housing tenants without a rental agreement, or without sending the tenants' details to the local police station.
- What police asked for: an agreement for every tenant, and each tenant's or PG occupant's details given to the police station. The report says this can be done online through a "Tenant/Paying Guest Information Request" service, and that leave and licence agreements registered online with IGR reach the police through CCTNS.
- Where to submit: we could not find that form on the Pune City Police website when we checked, so in the city, ask the police station for your area. Outside city limits, Pune Rural Police has an online tenant form and says no police NOC is needed to rent out a flat or house.

Register the leave and licence agreement
Maharashtra requires every leave and licence agreement to be registered, however short. The stamp duty is 0.25% of the licence fee for the term plus a share of the refundable deposit, with a minimum of ₹100.
