Delhi Police tenant registration: online on the portal, or on paper at the station

In Delhi, the owner registers a tenant with the police. Online, choose Domestic Help/Tenant Registration on the Delhi Police website, sign up on the citizen services portal, enter your details and the tenant's, upload their photo and ID, and save the registration number. Offline, fill the Delhi Police tenant information format and hand it to the local police station.
Registering a tenant on the Delhi Police portal
Start from delhipolice.gov.in
Under Citizen Services on the Delhi Police website, pick "Domestic Help/Tenant Registration". This takes you to the citizen services portal. Typing that address yourself, rather than following a link from an ad or a message, keeps you on the official site.
Make a citizen account
First-time users choose "Create an account" on the login page. The account is in your name as the landlord. If you forget the login later, the same page has links to recover the user ID and password.
Enter the owner, tenant and family details
Fill in your own particulars, then the tenant's, then each family member who will live in the flat. Attach the tenant's photograph and identity document where the form asks for them.
Note the registration number
After you submit, write down the registration number and download or print the acknowledgement. The police station for the property's area then does the checking.
The portal is not for emergencies
The portal's own login page warns that online requests may take time to be acted on, and asks anyone needing immediate help to call 112.
The paper form: Format for Information of Tenants
If you would rather not use the portal, Delhi Police publish a printable tenant information format on their Download Forms page. Print it, fill it in, paste the tenant's photo in the box on the first page, sign it and take it to the police station that covers the property.
| Part | Details asked for |
|---|---|
| Landlord | Name; occupation with office details and phone number; address and phone number |
| Tenant | Name and father's name; occupation with office phone number; age; a photograph |
| Family | Name, age and relationship of each family member |
| Addresses | Present address; previous address with phone number and date of leaving; permanent address with phone number |
| Identity | Details of one of: passport, driving licence, arms licence, ration card, voter card or PAN |
| Signature | Signature of the landlord |
The second page is for police use only. It has space for the officer who prepares the report, any criminal involvement or conviction, and a report from the police station of the tenant's home town. You leave that page blank.
Your proof that the police were told
The last page of the paper form is an acknowledgement. The station fills in who gave the intimation of letting, to whom the property was let, the date and a diary number, and the receiving officer signs it with their name, designation and the station's seal.
Do not leave the station without that page completed. Online, the registration number and saved acknowledgement do the same job. Keep whichever you have with the signed rent agreement for as long as the tenant stays, and for a while after.
Which ID proofs work
The paper form lists passport, driving licence, arms licence, ration card, voter card and PAN; it needs details of any one. Aadhaar is not on that printed list. The online form may accept other documents, so check what it offers when you upload.
Ask the tenant for the original as well as a copy, and match the name and photo before you fill anything in. If they offer Aadhaar for your own records, you can ask for a masked copy, which hides most of the number.
Fee, time taken, and what we could not confirm
- Fee. Neither the Delhi Police home page nor the portal's login page states a fee. Check on the portal when you apply, or ask at the station.
- Time. No processing time is published. The portal itself says online services may take some time.
- Agents and owners abroad. We found nothing on the Delhi Police website about whether a property dealer, relative or power of attorney holder can register on the owner's behalf. Ask the local station before relying on it.
- The online form's fields. The portal shows a login page only, so we have not seen the online form itself. The steps above describe it at the level Delhi Police do.
Rent agreement and stamp duty in Delhi
The paper form does not ask for a copy of the rent agreement, but you should have one signed before the keys change hands. Our rent agreement format includes a clause where the tenant agrees to share ID for police verification, and the PG rental agreement does the same for single-bed lets. Delhi's stamp duty is not yet on our stamp duty on rent agreements page, because we have not found the current rate on an official Delhi source.
After registration: rent and records
One place for the lease, the KYC and every rent payment
Domvio stores each tenant's lease and KYC documents beside their rent history and PDF receipts. It does not register tenants with Delhi Police; you do that on the portal or at the station. To collect rent on WhatsApp with a UPI link, see the rent collection app.
