Where Hyderabad City Police lists tenant verification

The MeeSeva services page of Hyderabad City Police groups 11 services under "Issuance of Certificate". Tenant Verification is one of them. Every service in the group links to the same Telangana MeeSeva portal, so the application itself happens on MeeSeva, not on the police website.

The other services in that group include Servant Verification, job verification certificates, certificates for drivers and a gap certificate for students. None of them shows a fee or a document list on the police page.

How to apply for tenant verification on MeeSeva

   Open Telangana MeeSeva

   Go to the MeeSeva portal from the link on the Hyderabad City Police page, so you land on the official site.

   Sign in or register

   The MeeSeva home page has a login box. First-time users sign up through its New User link.

   Look under Police services

   Police is one of the service categories on the MeeSeva home page. We could not see the services inside it without an account, so we cannot show you the exact tenant verification form.

   Read the fee before paying

   Hyderabad City Police does not publish a fee for this service. Check the amount on MeeSeva before you confirm payment.

   Save what MeeSeva gives you

   Note any application number or acknowledgement the portal shows, and keep a copy with the rent agreement as your record that you reported the tenant.

Applying at a MeeSeva centre or the police station

If you would rather apply in person, the MeeSeva portal has a MeeSeva Centres menu with a list of authorised service providers and a map view to find the nearest one. You can also go to the police station whose area covers the rented property, not the one near your own home.

What documents does tenant verification in Hyderabad need?

Hyderabad City Police does not list them, and we could not open the MeeSeva form without logging in. So we cannot give you a confirmed list. Before you visit a MeeSeva centre, ask it what to bring for the tenant and for you as owner. Our national tenant verification guide shows what police forms in other cities ask for.

Fees and processing time

Neither is published on the Hyderabad City Police page. Check the charge on MeeSeva or at a MeeSeva centre before you pay. We found no official figure for how long verification takes, so apply before the tenant moves in rather than after.

Cyberabad, Rachakonda and other parts of Telangana

Hyderabad City Police was the only police unit whose website told us where tenant verification sits. For the others we checked:

• Cyberabad. Its forms page now sits behind a login, so we could not read what it offers owners.
• Rachakonda. Its website did not open when we checked.
• Telangana Police. The state police website links a Police Verification and Clearance portal, but it did not open for us, so we cannot say whether it covers tenants.

If your property is outside Hyderabad City Police limits, try MeeSeva first and ask the local police station if you cannot find the service there.

Stamp duty on the Hyderabad rent agreement

Verification and the agreement are separate tasks. A Telangana lease of under a year pays stamp duty of 0.4% of the total rent; our Telangana rent agreement stamp duty page has a calculator. For a shared room or bed, use a PG rental agreement for each occupant.
